Hellfire Pass is the name of the railway cutting on the former Burma railway (Death Railway) in Kanchanaburi, Thailand.
Built using forced labour during the Second World War.
In part by Allied Prisoners of war, as well as local and regional slave labour.
The pass is noted for the harsh conditions, heavy loss of life suffered by labourers during construction.
The Museum is located along highway 323.
If you have limited time and only wish to visit the Hellfire pass cutting. There is an alternative route to the back of the cutting.

There is plenty of nice accommodation located around Sai Yok Yai and Sai Yok Noi. No need to stay all the way in Kanchanaburi town.

A very moving place is an understatement.
Worth a visit as part of a bigger, longer 5 day trip up to Pilok and Sangkhla Buri and There Pagoda Pass.
